Comedy comes in many forms and Leicester Comedy Festival has always tried to reflect that in the events programmed and the people who are involved in creating each festival. This approach has existed since the event began in 1994 and has resulted in numerous projects and partnerships with organisations across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. We’re proud of the work we do with others, as we try and ensure the festival remains “a pretty broad grin” (The Guardian) for as many people as possible.
Event listings now feature an access key – this can be found on the bottom left hand corner of the listing.
Venue listings also have access provisions displayed – these can be found at the bottom left of the listing.
We have a range of show for all ages across the festivals. Many shows will have an age guidance on their listings, which can be found in the bottom left hand corner of the event listing. A spreadsheet with age guidance for all shows at Leicester Comedy Festival & The UK Kids’ Comedy Festival 2025 can be accessed here.
As part of making Leicester Comedy Festival & The UK Kids’ Comedy Festival accessible for all, we have provided accredited Safer Spaces training courses for festival venues & promoters, consisting of courses in ‘Understanding & Responding to Sexual Harassment and Assault’ (presented by Good Night Out), ‘Disability, Equality & Customer Service’ (presented by Attitude Is Everything) and ‘Bystander Awareness’ (presented by Get Off Live Comedy). This training was important for us to implement to ensure we are taking steps to create a safe and welcoming environment for all festival goers.
For a list of access provisions at our venues, you can download our 2024 access guide here. The guide is in the process of being updated for venues joining the festival in 2025.
